Why doesn't my 1994 GMC Sonoma 4.3 start?

I'm having issues with my truck. It won't start. I turn the ignition the dashboard lights turn on, but there's no crank. What could be wrong with it? The battery is fine.
Does any one specialize in GMC's? Help!

Yes, Romaldo is right. Sometimes you can hit your starter with mallet and the starter will magically work again. However, you probably have a bad starter and should consider replacing it. That mallet trick only works so many times.

my sonoma was doing the same thing. I had someone turn the key while I tapped on the solenoid and it started. It was the solenoid so when I priced the solenoid 45.00 at autozone and 79.00 for the starter and solenoid I replaced the starter.
