The truck is in great condition. Its just that the air is not cold AT ALL. Is there something that I can do without taking it to the mechanic? P.s. ..I'm not anything near a mechanic so please answer in Layman's terms. Thank you all!

Your A/C system sounds like it needs to be serviced and the best and safest way is to get it recharged at a garage that has the A/C recharge machine. What needs to be done is to vacuum out the oil R134a and then recharge it, this will take any moisture out of the system to ensure your A/C will run at 100%.

Try to stay away from the recharge kit that you can buy at Wal-mart/Auto Zone for around $45.00. If you over charge the system, a $65.00 recharge will cost you just under $500.00 repair if you like to ever have A/C in your Sonoma.

If you do decide to go with the do it your self recharge kit, follow the instructions on the can and add a little at a time. Open the valve on the recharge hose and close it allowing the R134A to charge the system slowly. Let the engine idle 5 min before opening the valve again to add more R134a and use a thermometer to check the temperature coming out of the vent. Once your getting 15'C/ 60'F your good to go, you can get it lower if you had the proper gauge set to read the low and high A/C lines.

Once again over charging will cause your compressor to cut out too soon causing you not to have good temperature, or worst cause it to fail and a full A/C system recovery and parts will need to be replaced like the compressor and accumulator.

Hope this helps you, and good luck:eek:
