Will it fit and run?

I currently own a 1988 GMC K1500 305 and I was wondering if I can put a 350 cam shaft from a 1980 Z28 in it?

I was told by a friend that it probably would not fit in my motor. Does anyone know if that is accurate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
