Can someone please help me with a TIRE/WHEEL SIZE question about my husbands 1988...

...GMC SIERRA K2500 EFI 4X4 P/U? Here's the case: My husband is currently in Iraq and right before he left we bought the truck that he's always wanted. I want to put new rims and tires on them but I have no clue at all what any of these numbers are and I've tried really hard to figure it out myself but have only confused myself more so if someone could please break it down for me as simple as possible (like I'm a short bus ridder). I've been to 2 different tire stores and both gave me very different answers, which naturally only confused me more.

For the 1988 GMC K2500 P/U, I want those fat juicy meaty monster looking tires on an 18", 19" or 20" rim so I need to know how can I get that look? Here's the info that's on the sticker inside the door of the truck it says:
1988 GMC SIERRA K2500 EXT.CAB EFI 4X4
GAWR FRONT GAWR RR
LT245/75 R16C LT245/75 R16C
16X6 5K 16X6 5K
45/310 50/345

These are the tires that's on it now, I don't like this look it's boring I want that sexy meaty muscle kick azz type look on there.
Back Tire says:
GOODYEAR EXTRA GRIP WORKHORSE RADIAL
M + S LT235/85 R16
LOAD RANGE E

Front Tire says:
RADIAL RVT
M + S LT265/75 R16
LOAD RANGE E

Tire place said I need to know the tire size, wheel size and bolt pattern. Can anyone help me out.
I see all kinds of tires that I like but they all have such different numers one I saw says:
18 inch 5 lug deep dish 18. 8x5 + 15 215/45
then another one says
M/T 40/15.50 R22
what does all that mean? Please help

LT245/75 R16C is your tyre size. As you see both rear and front wheel have same tyre size.
1988 GMC SIERRA K2500 got 16" rim. So any thing greater than that need some modification. Like increase the suspension, make it harder (suspension) or even some body work to accomidate the extra large tyres.
Larger the tyre greater are the chance to hit the body in bumpy roads. And it will consume more power and fuel.
18 inch 5 lug deep dish means that the tyre is suitable for 18" wheel and its treads are deep like in dirt / mountan bikes. If you fit this tyre and drive in paved roads, that will be little unconfertable.
So get a 4 wide Low Profile 17" tubless tyre with the rim. Keep old 16" tyre as spare. This way you can same some greens.
