I'm looking to find a good True Dual Exhaust system for my GMC i just picked up. But i don't know much about Exhaust System and what not. Can anyone care to help me figure this out? I was looking @ MagnaFlow, Dynomax & Flowmaster. But than someone i know mentioned Headers? I'm just so lost

i just wanna make my Truck look cool with Dual Exhaust, gain some HP (if possible, dont care) and have a nice loud sound.
Here's how I rate Flowmaster's
Super 10 Series - wake the dead.
Original 40 - loud inside/outside.
Delta flow 40 - not as loud as original, but a few more hp.
Super 44 - quieter in/louder out, few more hp than both.(what I had on my jimmy before the Magnaflows)
Super 10 Series - One Chamber Mufflers "Really Loud"
40 series = 2 chamber
50 series = 3 chamber(quieter than above)

As for your question about "Duel Exhaust" it's your preference. Keep in mind that your going to have to have two of everything such as Catalytic Converters and have them match to the Engine's exhaust flow rate and make sure you have a H pipe or X pipe to balance the engine's flow rate from one bank to the other. (X Pipe is better for the TBI system in your truck) A true duel on your 350 would be at it's limits to 2.25" per side to give you a good low, to mid and high end range being better at the mid's to high. Anything larger for a duel and your going to loose out on your mids and will have to run your engine on the higher RPM's, i don't think you have a stall speed of 3,200 in your transmission for a true duel, X pipe, 3.0" each side and regardless your intake side and cam is too small for that set up.
Using tubing that is too large can actually hinder exhaust flow by slowing the velocity of exhaust pulses in the tubing. As a rule, most mildstreet applications (V8 dual exhaust) use 2.00” through 2.25” tubing, and modified street applications (V8 dual exhaust) will generally use 2.25” or 2.50” tubing. Very rarely will 3.00” tubing be used for (dual exhaust) street applications.
You may be better off with a single exhaust that breaks in to duel out let (3" inlet - 3" duel outlet muffler) at the Muffler like in the

http://www.dynomax.com/ without the hefty price tag.
As for the headers, skip on that unless your going to change your cam out for a bigger cam. The stock cam is small in your truck and is happier at the low to mid range RPM's 1,600 to 4,400 RPM.
To really make any HP after getting a cat back exhaust, you should have the ECM's Chip replaced with one that is tunes for your intake and exhaust system and your driving preference.
Good luck and hope this helps.
