Hi Guys!

I hate to be that new guy that has to ask the stupid questions, but I can't really find out too much through google... so I figured someone here HAS to know.

The truck I will be looking at tomorrow is a 2000 GMC Sonoma ZR2 edition. SO inevitably I have a few questions.

This will be my daily driver so, Fuel economy?

on that note; How big is the tank?

Seeings as it is a private deal, what do I look for? Apparently the box is banged up, I am going to learn how to do body work I guess.

What are some common problems, Transmission? Transfer case? Electrical?

ZR2- upon looking it up, is it actually include a 3" extra body lift?

Thanks alot guys,

Bobby

Just stay on top of things like lubing all the grease points and servicing the transmission and differentials. Other then that, it's like any other Jimmy for maintenance. With a few exceptions like the suspension and rear end axle which is from a 1500 Sierra to give it that wider stance. :D

Thanks, for the info. Does anyone know about fuel mileage etc?

Oh and Molson. Nice to see another person from K-W.

You'll get about 18-19 MPG on the highway and around 13-15MPG on city due to the low first gear ratio on the 4L6E transmission. There are a few things you can do to make it more efficient, but you'll find that it's the highway use is where you'll find the most efficient place for the use of your Zr2.

Well... The truck was crap. Alot worse than described to me. Maybe a time to look at one that isn't beat to shit.

Sorry to here that Bob, did you try this link and keep me posted if you are still going to pick one up. Be glad to help you look for issues that you may need to addressed. I managed to pick up a 1997 Blazer 2 door for my son for $500.00 with transmission issues.

I went through the Blazer and found that the wire leads connecting to the transmission was bad, so i cleaned it up and fixed the damaged wires and got the transmission to run 100% again with the replacement of the boost valve and swapped out the servo's with Corvette servo's all done for just under $200.00 with the transmission fluid and filter replaced.

Good luck and I hit over 362,000 miles (over 500,000 Km) on my Jimmy  with a few newer parts
