I am getting code p0455, actually i have been running with the ses light for the last 2 years. I have bought a new gas cap, changed the Vent selonoid, took out my Evap Canister. Now, having the canister out of the truck and looking at it there was no apparent cracks, I blew in it and there was no restriction. Firstly, how do you test a Evap canister? i put everything back together and the light is still on.

Secondly, the only thing I havent changed or cleaned(if you can) is the vent valve on top of the gas tank( I think thats where it at). Do I have to drop the tank to get at it? Is it easy to change?

thanks

You have checked/replaced the gas cap you need to look for a hole in the evap system. The p0455 is a large leak in the Evap system. Its going to be in a hose or other part of the fuel Evap system.

The quickest way to find the leak is with a smoke machine. Whatever you do don't blow air into the tank! Find a shop with a smoke machine and the leak will appear in no time. Other wise you will just being throwing parts at it. The leak may be in the back around the tank or anywhere in between the tank and the engine.

Here is a link to your Evap system and i am going to guess that you have a 1996 and up Jimmy since you have not stated the year. Good luck and keep us posted.
