hey everyone im 16 years old and i was curious if anyone has a 2009 or 2010 GMC CANYON. im starting my first job next week and im going to try and save up money for this truck. ive already got $2,000 in my saving account and my parents said they would help me out by $1,000 or $2,000. the new 2010 GMC CANYON is MSRP $16,985 for a RWD reg. cab work truck or SLE and the 4WD (the one i want) is MSRP 20,490. My real question is before i save up my money and blow it all on a new (or used) truck... is the GMC CANYON a good or bad truck overall? thanks for your help.

Arguably the worst compact truck on the market. From the Consumer report road test:

The Colorado and its twin, the GMC Canyon, are surpassed by their competitors in just about every category. The unrefined five-cylinder engine lacks punch and doesn't offer a fuel-economy advantage over competing V6s. It had to work hard to power the crew cab we tested. The 3.5-liter grew to 3.7 liters in 2007. Handling is sound but unexceptional. The ride is unsettled, and the body constantly quivers. Despite relatively small dimensions for a truck, the 48-foot turning circle is huge. They also have just about the worst reliability of any truck out there and the lowest customer satisfaction numbers.

For a first truck, try to get your self a Sonoma first. There no longer in productions, but the replacement parts are readily easy to come by and if your are going to go that route. Make sure it's the one that has the 4.3 Vortec engine in it, much better then the 2.2 liter engine for power though out the power band.

Look around and i am sure you can pick one up that has all the goodies done to it already for under $5000.00 with lots of life left for fun. :D
