I purchased a GMC Envoy Friday used but it's still under warranty. However the issue I noticed is that the fuel guage is always at E and after driving for a bit it will go to a quarter full. But doesn't properly reflect the actual fuel level. On Thursday I have to take a drive to Ft Sill Oklahoma. My Warranty covers this but does that mean they do it for free? Or what....
Is this something that can be fixed in a day or two? I have to report to Sill for school. And will be gone for a few months. Thats 11 hour drive I will need to know when I need to refuel.

The problem is the float that is attached to the fuel pump. The zone is dead to measure fuel quantity. Not knowing the coverage of your warranty, I don't know it this is covered. The fuel pump of course is located in the fuel tank. EDIT: it is a same day fix

There has been a bad history of the cluster gauges going bad on the Envoys and other GM products. A tech2 scanner can determine if it's the stepper motor to the gauge that has gone bad, rather then the sending unit in the gas tank. A stepper motor goes for around $15.00 on Ebay and will have the step by step instructions to replace it. Buy with warranty, the dealer should be more then happy to address your fuel gauge issues.

Good luck and hope to hear your enjoying your new Envoy. ;)
