Check your ECM fuse, if your lucky. The ECM fuse has blown due to the fuel pump over heating from running without fuel in the gas tank. The fuel pump get's it 12 Volts power from the ECM fuse and it's common for that fuse to blow before the pump fails if it was ran out of gas.

At worst, the pump has failed from running without fuel through the system and will need to be replaced. Note that you may also want to replace the wire harness to your fuel sending unit to ensure that you will not have any issues when the new sending unit is installed.

The wires in the insulator of the harness is known to break when it;s been moved around when the old sending unit is replaced. So good practice is to replace the wire harness which is around $15.00.

Good luck and hope this helps, another thing also. Remove the bed to replace the sending unit is much easier then to drop the gas tank in a Sonoma. ;)
