Hello All,

I have some suburban specific questions…perhaps I can get some answers here :)

We currently own a 2009 Acura MDX and 2004 Nissan Armada…I’d like to trade the armada in for a 2010 suburban. But first….

1) Is there going to be a 2011 Suburban…I can’t see the model on GM’s drop down menu’s here in Canada…if so, when is a major model chance expected?

2) How does the Suburban handle in the snow/ice….we live in Northern Ontario and winters here can be harsh.

3) Is the LTZ worth the expense? (over the LT with some additional options).

4) At the risk of igniting a flame response….how is the chev suburban's reliability…in terms of break downs and repair expenses? (We’ve had a series of Honda’s and Nissans and have had great reliability…very few repairs). What should I expect from a chev product?

Thanks all!

There great toys, but expensive, my dad has a Yukon and i find it best on the the hyway rather then city driving. Cost is about the same as everywhere else and as long as you keep up on maintenance, you'll be fine. Your going to have warranty so use it wisely if there is any issues and keep up on the TSB updates to ensure your new Suburban will be running at 100%

Good luck and hope this helps.

The GM Canada website takes a long while to get updated. There aren't any plans to scrap the Sub after 2010. For 2012 GM should have their 4.5L diesel on the market again (300hp, 520lb ft of torque) available in the entire 1500 truck line. It was off due to their money woes but is back on the table! The full size trucks are a big money maker for GM, so don't count them out just because it's not listed online as a 2011 model.

I drove my old GMC (listed below), rear wheel drive around Sudbury for three years without any problems. Any 4wd, or all wheel drive vehicle will do well in the snow in terms of tractability. It all comes down to your tires. The Subs are nearly 3 tons dry weight and with the 265/70R17 tires there are a TON of choices out there for all terrain types.

The LTZ might help out a bit with resale value, but I'd save your money as you definitely won't see a return on investment for the cost of the trim line upgrade. If you can find a used 2009 (also with the 6 speed auto trans!) with low mileage, it might be something to consider, as that means someone else already took the depreciation hit. I do know what it's like buying used vehicles, and if you have the choice, stick with new so you can better keep track of vehicle history and maintenance. The only thing that the LTZ might have (check online) is the memory seats and mirrors if you let the wife drive. It's a nice feature to have, but for the $5-6K for the LTZ package it's a hard sell in my book for that price!

As for reliability, don't worry about it. Even Lexus has their issues, along with Nissan, Honda, Dodge, Toyota (uh huh), but overall the chance of getting a vehicle put together at the factory by drunks is very unlikely. Most assembly line workers take their jobs seriously, and they better for the money they make! My vehicles listed below I've only owned the Ford since new, and I do most of the routine maintenance where and when I can to save on costs, and to better my personal knowledge base. Let alone, I know that if something goes wrong, I can kick myself for it. So, sit back, and just enjoy the ride!
