I have a 2004 GMC Sierra. Has anyone done away with there cats? I'm wondering if i gut em will my truck run messed up? I think at least one of them is clogged. I really don't want to spend $450 to replace them. I know the older vehicles use to come alive without the cats but the newer vehicles have so many sensors and stuff i don't want to mess anything up. Is there a way to bypass the o2 sensors? Thanks Mike

Yes the pcm will set a DTC code for a failed cat and your not going to be able to pass emission testing. You can replace you cat with a after market like the high flow made by http://www.magnaflow.com/. It's what i have in my Jimmy now and is running great.

But before you go through all that pain and spending any more. I believe your Catalytic converter it under warranty up to 8 years or 130,000 km (80,000 miles)

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)
