I have 92 GMC Sonoma will not start i replaced the spark plugs, checked and made sure its getting fuel and spark. I have also reset the timing and the distributor, and checked the firing order... When i try to start the vehicle if i apply the gas pedal it shoots a flame out the top of the throttle body how can i get my vehicle to start?

Timing is off or your firing order is wrong.

The EST plug for this vehicle is in the passenger compartment, on the passenger side under the carpet against the fire-wall. It is part of the wiring harness that goes from the engine to the ECM (which is located to the right of and under the glove compartment). It is a tan wire with a black stripe. This disconnects the EST circuit which must be done to properly set the timing.

Set timing under the following conditions:

1. Normal operating temperature.
2. Air cleaner installed.
3. A/C "OFF".
4. Transmission in neutral.
5. Disconnect the SET TIMING connector (tan/black wire), taped to the harness below the heater case in the passenger compartment. DO NOT disconnect 4 wire connector at distributor. This will allow you to set base timing.
6. Base Timing 0°TDC

Good luck and keep us posted, and recheck your firing order.
