I have a 1991 GMC Jimmy 4x4 5.7L TBI V-8, When the vehicle exceeds 55MPH for longer than 10 miles sustained, the Check Engine light comes on, If I restart the car it disappears. I was told by the PO that he had this issue before and when he pulled the codes they pointed to the O2 Sensor. My questions are:
How many O2 Sensors are on this vehicle?
Where are they located?
Does this scenario warrant O2 Sensor replacement?
Additional Info:
When the light comes on there is no loss of Power, I can accelerate just fine and the Engine does not feel underpowered, there are no troubling odors or smells from the vehicle, a tune-up was just performed (Plugs,Wires,fuel/air filter, Oil changed, as well as oil filter, New distributor and cap, new serpentine belt, cleaned out the Throttle body with spray, Vacuum lines replaced, valve cover gaskets, and PCV valve.) The best part is, it just passed Emissions inspection this weekend.
