1994 sonoma prom

I checked with the dealer and the prom that is in the truck is the wrong one so i contacted the madtunner guy and he was very helpful. He located a computer with the correct prom in it so I ordered it. I will keep my fingers crossed that this is all that is wrong with the truck. any warnings or special steps i need to take to change the computer or do i just unplug the one that is in there and replace it with the new one? thanks

Don't forget to disconnect the battery when replacing your Prom. Good luck, keep up the great work and keep us posted. ;)

Ok I changed out the computor and prom and cranked up the truck it seemed to idle smoother but the next time i started it up it runs for a few seconds and starts to miss and you have to pump the gas to try to keep it running and then it backfires thru the intake and dies, I changed the plugs they were black over gapped most were about 55 when they should be 45 and the back plug on the passenger side smelled like gas. but even after the plug change the truck still does the same thing, changed plug wires still the same, pulled the cap and it look like gray dust between the contacts and the top of the rotor is black could this be the cause, i also checked for any codes none were found. thanks

Sounds like you have a fuel pressure regulator (FPR) issue and your injector system is leaking fuel in to your upper intake manifold.

Inspect the vacuum line to your fuel pressure regulator for damages and test to see if you have a fuel leak from your FPR. You can test this by checking your fuel pressure at the shredder valve with the ignition keys on.

Once you have the fuel system pressurized, turn the ignition off and watch the fuel pressure and see if it drops fast. If it does, then you have a leak and will most likely be from your FPR.

Good luck and keep us posted and we can go from here. :D
