Hello Everyone,

I have a 4 door 99 jimmy slt 4x4 that has been giving me nothing but problems.

I have replaced the engine twice, the first time, my gf was driving it and the oil pump gave out on it sent a rod right through the oil pan, 3 days after the new low mileage engine went it, it siezed up (was told that it was a bad engine) and it was replaces free of charge. It has a new maf sensor a, It has a new fuel pump new exhaust. One day while driving it, it started running rough and the oil pressure guage started dropping, the temp guage started to redline so i shut her down. I put a code reader on it and it was giving a low input code at the coolant temp sensor, replaced that, took it for a couple km test drive just to have the same thing happen again. This time, the plastic connector on the temp sensor was really soft. I changed the thermostat, and the sensor again. Now it isnt giving that code but it was giving an 02 sensor code (I had a cat burn through so i figured that it need a new 02 sensor soon.) I replaced the 02 sensor and it is still over heating. It will run fine for short drives, under 5-10 minuits. but longer than that and it starts to over heat, tries to die at every stop and just runs rough.

The rest of the truck is in really good shape but I just seem to be running in a circle with the engine problems.

Any Ideas?

Eric

From what you have described, it sounds like you have a intake manifold gasket failure and coolant is leaking in to your engine. Inspect your engine oil for coolant contamination and try not to run the engine to long.

Coolant is corrosive to the engine's internal bearings, if there is any signs of coolant mixed in with your engine oil mixed in with your coolant. Then you have a intake manifold or head gasket failure and your going to have to flush out your engine and replace the faulty gasket.

Good luck and sorry for the bad news, please keep us posted.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will be taking a look at the oil tommorow and will keep you posted!

Thanks again

Eric
