I have a 2004 Envoy with a bad camshaft actuator. I need to know how to remove this. I was told the drive belt needed to be removed, then to unbolt the power steering pump. I took off the belt, but only found two bolts for the steering pump, and still was not able to move it. Does the actuator just pull out, or do i need to remove the valve cover to remove it?

The power steering is not that had to take off. After sliding the belt off its a 13mm socket and a small extension. Rotate the pulley around to get the bolts. One on top. one 90 degrees to the right and than one straight down from the top one.

Than the 10mm that holds the CPAS. Don't drop it, kinda a PITA to find if it doesn't hit the ground. Anyways pulling out the CPAS is without any trouble, just a jerk and a pop nose, then it"s free.

Good luck and keep us posted
