I have a 2001 Jimmy with drum brakes on the rear. I want to change them to disc brakes. Can this be done and if so how? Can I just go to the salvage yard and get the parts needed to do the job? Will the disc brake assembly from another year match up with my axle housing? Thanks

Cost to much and not worth the conversion. The disk brakes verse Drums is that the Drums has longer life intervals of service then the disk. The rear calipers seem to be an issue with it seizing up and will need to be addressed more often.

Personal stick with the drums you have on now, remember your also going to have to replace the master cylinder to get the proper brake pressure proportionate valve for the rear brakes. The drums use more brake pressure then the disk brakes. With the wrong valve, your rear brakes will lock up every time you hit the brakes just to slow down.
