Last few days it has been REALLY cold outside and when I would start my car it would hesitate and then fire up and drive fine. Yesterday, it would not even turn over. The lights come on when I turn the key but no start.. only what sounds like a clicking noise. Tried jumping and charging the battery, no luck. Alternator has been fine and I have had one go out and its holding charge for the battery. Is it my starter, something else? if it is the starter, how hard are they to change. Could the battery be bad somehow even if its been charged?

How old is the battery??? A battery older then 4 years is running on borrowed time and will still read 12 volts, but will not have a cranking amp. You can test the load on the battery by taking a reading and taking a reading when you try to start the engine.

If it dips less then 10.5 volts, your going to get a no start. Even if the engine did turn over at 10.5 volts, the PCM will not fire up the ignition system and fuel injectors to start the engine. ;)

Post back and if you do have to replace the starter, here is a link that should help you. http://gmcowners.com/gmc-forum/showthread.php?t=16363
