About to change the drivers air bag and I was wondering if anyone knew where the module was? And how to remove it.

Here is a link that should help you locate the sensing and diagnostic Module (SDM) amd # 07 is your SDM. http://www.compnine.com/index.php?u...delid=7036&capuid=1&majorgroup=16&grouptype=B it is under the drivers seat.

It is important to disarm the bags, when the connectors are unplugged the connector self shorts the air bag deployment circuit preventing accidental deployments, and pulling off the battery cable will not do the same thing.

The SDM's have capacitors to maintain a internal voltage loop so that in the event of a crash that severs the battery connection, the bags will still deploy.

Disarm the inflatable restraint system (air bag), remove negative battery cable unplug the 2 air bag connectors.

1. For the steering wheel air bag, it is at the base of the column, bright yellow remove the keeper and pull apart the plug as normal.

2. Instrument panel air bag is up in behind the glove box (you will have to hinge it down) same type connector. If you have side impact airbags in the seats it will be the same procedure for them.

Once disarmed and the seat is removed, fold the carpet flap back and you will see the module 4' square and with the same type yellow connector only bigger. Unplug, remove, reinstall, re-plug, reconnect the drivers and passenger reverse of disarming procedure.

If the SDM is good they will generally clear all of the previous DTC's, but the service procedure does say that they may need to be cleared with the OBDII scanner if not if the DTC codes still there.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)
