Make sure you have the all the right tools you need and spray the bolts the night before with penetrating oil or a 50/50 mix of brake/transmission fluid.

This should help you remove those 16 year old bolts come out, if you end up breaking a bolt. You can buy a bolt extractor, http://www.sourcingmap.com/piece-damaged-screw-remover-broken-bolt-extractor-kit-p-24655.html

Good luck and keep us posted.hope to see your write up on how to replace the water pump on your 94 K1500 Sierra engine. ;)

i was told today by a guy to put hy-tak between the gasket and water pump, and silicone between the gasket and actual engine, does this sound right? is there something better? or is anything other than the gasket needed?

If the job is done right, all you need is the gasket it self. I my self only use the gasket and use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts and recheck torque the bolts a day or two later. ;)

Take your time and prep the two surface to ensure the gasket seals right. Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

did the water pump, thermostat, and flush today on my 94 gmc suburban. runs cooler, warms up faster, and a lot better heat. happy so far
