my 94 jimmy tachs out in 1st gear in drive and overdrive and then you have to floor after it starts to tach out to get it to shift into 2nd

Inspect and replace your TPS. Make sure that the wires are not corroded or has been disconnected. Make sure the TPS has a smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace it. A worn TPS will also give the wrong readings which can also cause issues to what you have described.

thanks, gotta check that but now i also figured out theat when it gets a little high in 1st if i let off enough, it will go into second and then shift fine from there

Same issue with your TPS causing your transmission shift to be erratic.

Here are a few things that can be happening from what you are trying to describe:

1-2 shift does not happen at WOT until you let off the gas: Best case: try replacing the TPS. Middle case: leak in the 2nd gear apply circuit (servo assembly or 1-2 accumulator). Doublecheck by using the pressure gauge and watch for a big drop when the PCM commands 2nd gear. Worst case: poor line pressure rise. (dirty EPC valve screen)

1-2 Shift shudder at WOT; delayed or abnormal 1-2 shift; There's a problem ONLY on the 1-2 shift: 1-2 accumulator piston cracked or stuck cocked in the bore. Check the yellow spring inside the accum housing for breakage. Also, if the accumulator housing walls are scored, the housing must be replaced. This is an easy fix in the pan.

1-2 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace the TPS.

Start with the simple and inspect the TPS as mentioned, after that it's going to be a trip to the transmission shop unless you have the tools and place to get under the Jimmy.

Keep us posted.

alright i was looken more and talked to a guy and he said that is sounds like the valve plates in the trans are clogged and that it may also be the selenoid for 1-2 is on its way out, gunna change the tps first and if that not it go from there -_-

uea so i replaced the 1-2 accumulator spring with a heavy duty one and it is still doing same, next is gunna have to be tps then if not just putten in shop
