Well i have 3k miles on my 2011 GMC serria 1500 4x4.
I was towing my boat home from the lake this weekend and the check engine light comes on. (why me) I'm a 30 tech and don't want to deal with the bull of the dealer and also won't fix it my self out of spite.
So off to the dealer next thursday (that will be fun)
I and a really picky guy when it comes to my tks.(it's my toy)

what i have done so far is rims, tires, factory fog lights, duel exhaust,(real duels) mad flaps and vent visors tonneau cover, and my graphics are being made for the tk

so the code is a 527 oil preasure sensor circuit problem :( o well just bitchen is all. i will let you know how they deal with it and me. ( i already feel sorry for them lol)

well went to the dealer today.......... Not good!

so the other day i put code 527 by mistake it's code 521. So i guess Gm does not have a fix for this right now. The engineers are working on a fix for this.
Which this is fine except they did a oil preasure test on my 3k miles motor.
So this sends a red flag up right away. i start asking questions and the writer does not really want to tell me the truth. So now i get the shop manger (which i know) He tells me there having oil preasure problems on all 2011 V8 engines with RPOs L20, LMG, LC9, LMF, L76, L96, LZ1, L94, L9H, LS3, L99, AND LSA Thats on all GM Cars and trucks. All i have to say is WTF

So now while i am driving my tk and the check engine light comes on mean i have low oil preasure and i am hurting my new motor/tk.

So laura of GMC do you have any insight on this?
I am not really happy that i have a brand new tk and now with 3 k on it and the dealer says GM does not have a fix for it so just drive it. Can't get a sticker where i live with a check engine light on or a code in the pcm or with out all montors set in pcm. And what about my motor ?

I totally understand that frustration. I’ll be sending you a PM for more details.

I just bought a 2011 truck with the LC9 5.3 motor, is this a wide
spread problem inherent to this unit?
Please let me know as I am leaving on a holiday pulling a trailer (small)
and should this happen do I keep driving as there wouldn't be much point to towing it to a dealership if there isn't a fix.

Found out a little more about this problem today (spoke with my friend at the dealer)the problem is not that the motor has no oil preasure (has plenty) the problem is where they put the sensor. The oil hole that feeds the sensor is to small so the oil preasures not getting to the switch corectly.

He told me no motors have gone bad over this and keep driving it nothing bad is going to happen.
It said GM trying to get a fix for it maybe a new switch for lower oil preasure.

Well i can tell you how to fix it just move the switch there has to be another oil hole in thje block some were! ;)

Well this is good news.... I think.

light came on again tonight on the highway again code 521. I cleared it and am keeping a record of when and miles it come on.

Wish I had seen this before I bought a new one. I'm only at 250 miles so I have something to look forward to :D . I traded in a 10 year old 120,000 mile F150 where I can honestly say I had zero major problems. I can only hope that this truck performs the same and should I experience this problem I hope it turns out to be a minimal fix and that GM will stand behind their customers.

Hi PGDriver,

Are you currently experiencing any concerns with your truck? If not, I would say that you shouldn’t have any worries about traveling.

So got a call from my friend at the dealer today. I texed him last week asking if GM could fix my tk yet. He said he would look in to it for me.

So he wants me to make a bring it appointment so they can change a part.
I asked what he was going to have them change and he would not tell me (busting my balls of course) said i will have to wait till i pick it up to find out lol.

I would do the same to him so i guess i have it coming. Will let you all know wednesday night what they did. ;)

ok have a up date on my 521 code.
Light has still been coming on so took it to the dealer again told them not to give it back till it was fixed.

well after working on it for two days (and they were really working on it ) i get the phone call from my friend at the dealer. Tells me that i need to come and look at my tk with them. I ask why and he said i would not belive him if i told me so just come down. Remember i am a 30 year tech my self.

So i get to my tk and they show me my oil pan removed from the tk that is full of medal. So i go look at the oil pump pick up and sure enought it's packed full as well. So the out come of my 521 code is it was telling the truth there was no oil pressure when the light came on. So good thing the dealer told me it was ok to drive.

So the problem started at about 3500 miles and now at 5700 miles i need a new motor.
