My digital dash is now only displaying my speedometer and turn signals. When i start it up, the brights, service engine soon, and red brake lights are able to be displayed, but the rest stay off (including my fuel gauge, which is an obvious problem). Also recently my buzzer has stopped working, and when i turn my lights on the whole display blacks out, but if i keep them off it works just fine. I was wondering if this is a fuse issue or something greater. Any help would be appreciated.

Well Im not an expert on the Jimmy Digital dashs, but I have worked on my Late 80's vette one a bit. Both GM so I would expect some similarties. When lights are turned on the dash will actually DIM, dark outside the Ditigtal can be darker, light outside it has to be brighter. So I suspect some issue with whatever dims the "lights" . As for actual parts not working, that can be many issues. The vette LED panels (glass) actually are part of the circuit so dirt, cracks and such break the circuit. Alot of issues with clusters is the MAIN connector (common on dodge) the main soldier poitns are cracked.. and make no connection. I guess what iM saying is.. no simple solution. Unless you are somebody who can see cold cracks in soldier joints or know burned parts.. its just best to go grab a used cluster from a wreaking yard and "HOPE' the issue is in the cluster and not before it cuasing it to go bad.

fixed mine

Hi, I just recently purchased a 1992 jimmy with a digital dash that only displayed the speedo, odo, and warning lights. I removed the whole unit from the dash (not extremely hard to do, although you do have to remove the heater controls and light controls). After that you remove the plastic cover and it's 4 nuts to remove and the cluster pulls straight out. I took it inside and disassembled it down to the circuit boards. I don't have any experience or electronic knowledge but I have soldered a couple things in the past and do have a fairly decent iron. I took a close look at the board and nothing seemed obvious, other than a few burned out bulbs. I noticed a couple kinda shady solder points and decided to resolder most of the board, or rather just remelt the solder points. It didn't really take long. Half hour to remove from the truck and an hour on the bench with the soldering iron. Didn't replace any components other than the bulbs. I put it back together and it fired right up. The whole dash is back up and running.

I think it's just poor quality from GM on the circuit board. I would also check for bulging caps on the power supply which is attached to the circuit board. Mine were fine, but it could be an issue. The whole repair cost me $1.80 for 3 new bulbs. Hope this helps.
