Hey guys, new member here. I have a question on the cheapest way to give my 97 GMC Sierra Z71 a good sound. It's completely stock with a 5.7L. Money's really tight, as is the situation with a lot of people these days. I realize that I'm not going to get terrific sound without spending a decent amount of cash, but I'd like some rumble and for it to get a bit loud when I get into it. I'm not mechanically inclined, but I have a buddy who is and who'd be willing to help me with whatever I need. I've been trying to find out if maybe just replacing the muffler with a glass pack would give me what I want. Any recommendations? Part numbers, tips, or whatever you guys can throw my way would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Keep it simple and http://www.cherrybomb.com/ are not that bad. Go with the Turbo mufflers, there average cost is about $40.00 if money is tight. Stay away from the glass pack, your Sierra will not get enough back pressure and your going to loose out on performance unless your tune your PCM.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I would go with Magnaflow makes my Sierra sound smooth when just riding and rowdy when you punch it! but if money is tight go with molsons advice

Well guys, I've got some good news! A guy at work is putting straight pipes on his truck and is offering to give me his old cherry bomb glass packs for FREE! On my truck, two pipes go into the muffler. So I'll be able to stick the cherry bombs right there. Now what's the cheapest/easiest way to route the exhaust out from the cherry bombs? The muffler location right now is on the passenger side where the cab meets the bed. It's a long bed standard cab truck, if that makes a difference in your recommendation. Thanks for the replies!
