My SES light came on this morning and I hooked it up and it said my knock sensors were either bad or a loose connection.
I just cleaned my engine bay yesterday could that possibly have done something to the connection and how exactly would I check the connection.
Thank you for your help:)

P.S. I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 4.8l 1500 4X4
Any help is greatly appreciated, I love my baby.

You have 2 knock sensors under your intake valley. What cause the failure, water damage, foreign objects, wire getting interfearence, etc. I had to replace my dad's rear knock sensor on a 2005 Yukon with only 77k on it!

The best way to ensure that the knock sensors don't fail so early is to avoid the urge to power wash the engine bay and if you must wash off a degreaser, then try to avoid sending water into the intake area because it will pool up around the rear sensor and corrode it. My dad made that mistake and got the rear knock sensor code for his efforts.

The rear sensor was completely water destroyed. He only sprayed the engine compartment clean once a year. to replace it is a easy job to do, once you get the new sensors installed, put everything back in with a generous amount of silicone to seal the sensor and the wire. Only took me and my dad about an hour and a half and that was with bitch breaks for what he did. :D

Good luck and Auto Zone or parts source has the Knock sensors your need. Good luck and keep us posted.:D

I figured thats what it had to be, the corrosion.
Thank you again.

Quick question:
If I were to do it myself, is there a diagram of how to take the intake manifold off?
I am mechanically inclined lol
Thank you for your help.
