Wiring question

I have a 02 sonoma and I wanted to know where I could find the wiring harness for a trailer if it has it. If it dosen't have it what would be the easiest way to wire one. I know I could wire one but when I was at auto zone I didn't see a universal kit for my year. Also what is the max I could tow with just putting a ball hitch on the bumper instead of putting a full hitch?? All input is very appreciated.

Salvage yard will cost you a good class hitch for $30.00 and the wire harness is located on tops of the frame on drivers side by the spare tire.
