Hi all,

I'm looking for some help. My 1999 Sonoma's transmission started to whine the other day. It's not slipping or anything, just the whining. I cannot pull a transmission myself, but I can do many things that don't require a lift. However, I'm not sure where to start.

Would someone with some experience with this issue point me in the right direction to start to diagnose it?

Thank you.

Start with the simple, it sounds like your low on transmission fluid. At worst, Reaction planetary is worn out due to high miles or insufficient lubrication. Not a critical failure, but not a good sign either. R&R sooner rather than later.

Does it only whine when its in gear and goes away when you get up to 3rd gear???

Good luck and keep us posted.
