I have a 2003 xl 4x4 that the rear wheels snapped off. Both axles are broke and it tore everything up back there so I'm think a salvage rear end would be cheaper than replacing all those parts. Will 2wd rear end fit or do I need a 4x4 rear end?

Just make sure your PRO codes matches up with the donor axle. The axle assembly are the same except the Denali edition i think, but could be wrong.
The common PRO code is GU6, G80 being a 03. Best is to drive to the parts counter to your local gm dealer with your vin number and ask the counter person to print out your PRO code and you'll have all the information you need about your Envoy.
Good luck and remember to service the fluids to the new rear end and your front end also before driving it out on the road.
