I have a 1996 gmc suburban two wheel drive 1500. It has 375,000km on it but is very well mantained. I have had two issues lately that have caused me some concern. Lately when I drive at about 60kph I have a surge the rmp's don't move I can feel it in the seat? If I hit the accelerator it shifts fine and takes of like a bat out of hell! The other issue I had was I drove over a set or railroad tracks and the truck stalled it started right back up it was very strange this truck has never stalled!( maybe it was a little low on fuel ) just struck me as odd!
There is no check eng. light on and the truck does well on the highway. My biggest concern is the surging at 60 I'm hoping it a common problem and it's not a transmission. I don't think it is seems to be shifting fine. And I don't think I could take another gm transmission repair!

Start with the simple and replace your fuel filter if it has not been replaced in a while and check for any loose ground wire like your battery and the ground wire to your fuel sending unit.

Start with these simple things and keep us posted.
