hello all, names Edwin, im new to this forum and this is my first post. I have a 1992 Sonoma, has the 4.3 in it. its a good ol truck I bought off a farmer about 5 or 6 years ago. it has a number of issues but the main problem ive been fighting for quiet a while is that it revs really high intermittently. example: ill turn the key, itll turn over and idle fine but suddenly itll rev really high as if the gas pedal is being depressed then itll go back to normal. ive replaced multiple parts but still nothing. anyone have any idea as to what may be the problem? any help is greatly appreciated.

Start with the simple and clean your throttle body with a can of throttle body cleaner. Make sure you clean out the Air Idle Control Valve, also try giving it a http://www.seafoamsales.com/ treatment.

If that fails, check all your vacuum lines and replace any that i damaged and soft. If all has been done and nothing has changed, replace the Air Idle Control Valve after you inspect the wire leads.

Keep us posted;)

hey Molson, thanks for the reply. I haven't cleaned the throttle body yet as in sketchy about spraying anything into it, but if itll work then ill do it. as far as the AIC is concerned, its been replaced along with the plugs and wires about 2 months ago....and nothing. it ran fine about half way until my job and then bang! the light came on
as far as the vacuum lines go, I had a bad one in 2010, it was obviously damaged so I replaced it, to be honest I really do not have any idea as to where all the vacuum lines are located, I even have the hayes manual and it not really any help.

There should be a sticker on your radiator shroud to your vacuum lines and what is the dtc codes from your check engine light.
