I have a 95 sonoma that has a rought idle. There are no codes. I have recently replaced spark plugs, distributor, and cat. Stills has a rough idle. The engine runs great going down the road and never misses a beat. I took it to a shop and they messed with it but could not fix it either. What could be some caused and where should I go from here?

Thanks in advance

Very common on the 95 and earlier Vortec engine family to have ruff idle issues from a dirty EGR valve from carbon.

Start with the simple and check and replace any vacuum lines thats damaged from cracks or to soft. Cleaning the throttle body and giving the Sonoma a http://www.seafoamsales.com/ treatment works for many ppl. Replace the fuel filter, its cheap enough and easy to do get to under the inside frame rails on the driver side by the door.

Thanks. I will take a look at these thing and do one at a time to see what the issue is. I am not much of a mech. but I think I can handle this. Will a Haynes manual cover these things?

Thanks

If you go to Auto Zone to buy the fuel filter and things to clean out the EGR valve and throttle body. They can print out the step by step informations to getting the work done with simple tools.
