Bose stereo system question please read need help.

I have a 2000 gmc jimmy slt 4x4, it comes with the "Bose stereo system," my question is that I want to convert to a head unit with aux and USB options. But I'm boy getting subs or anything else just the dash head unit. If I convert to that will I still have the "Bose sound system" options and be able to control fade,balance,bass and treble? And have it still sound like the original Bose before I convert it. So if you are reading this and are a bit confused about what I'm explaing please take time to reply an help me out and I can answer any question you have to help you help me solve this problem/question.

Meaning that, if you replace the head unit and connect all the speakers properly to your head unit, it should work just as fine as before.

I did not spend my money on that, I got a plug-and=play auxiliary input box which goes into the factory harness. Gave me aux and usb, without changing anything, and perfect sound.

you can go to your local walmart for a small price and buy two things to hook up an aftermarket stereo, as i did with my 1999 Jimmy SLE. Go to the auto section in your store and look for car audio equipment. you will need to buy Stereo Install Kit #GM1504 and Wire Harness #GMDA. These two items will allow you to hook up an aftermarket stereo system with little modification to your stock setup. For information on how to remove the dash panel to install the Head Unit, look it up online, im not sure if the instruction booklet for the install kit said how to do it. After buying the install kit, open the included booklet to page 19 for the correct tabs to use for install.

I did not take out the preinstalled speakers either. I left them in and they actually sound great, just as good(a little better even) than the aftermarket speakers i bought for my previous vehicle.

Thanks I was thinking the same thing. I purchased an Aux adapter which would be a pain in the butt to take the dash apart but would keep my stock radio intact... or just replace my head unit to my Pioneer w/ an Aux port in it. Speakers sound great, unfortunately I am using the tape to aux right now so yea a lot of hisssing.

Is there a website I can buy the part you bought or something similar? I think I'd rather do that than spend a bunch of money on some fancy head unit I don't really need at the moment. All I want is to play my iPod. If you could find some where that sells the same or similar item that would be great thank you

So the plug and play just went in the back of the Bose unit that is already in the car, could you tell me where you got yours at I can't seem to find it. If you know a site that carries the same one or one that are work the same that would be great and very much appreciated.
