Hello all, new to the forum here. I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy that has to me a big idle problem. I have not tinkered around but came here if anyone has suggestions. My problem is, my idle is sticking REAL bad. I travel to college every day roughly (50 miles) and after a couple minutes i come to a stop sign. Boy was it hard to stop, i thought i had break problems until i looked at the dash and oh my pinned at 2000RPM. It does take alot more breaking to stop when its like this. I know that's not normal. Sometimes i could let it sit at 55 with the cruise off and it will not slow down on a flat piece of road. When i put it in park is when it really screams, close to 3000 RPM. My dad always hit the pedal and that seem to work but not anymore. Yeah its not the best for commuting, gas sucks at 250 miles before i have to fill it. Thinking of getting a awd car but thats no fun know is it LOL. I know its 16 years old and at 240K i have to keep it running. Its been in our family since new. I cant afford another used car at the moment. Anyway, Is there anything i could try before taking to the shop?
