2000 Sonoma random no start

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum but I am not new to GM products. I have owned my first GMC now for about a year. Since buying it, it will not start randomly. I have lights on the dash but no power to the starter it seems. I can turn the key to start and then off a few times with no luck. After a minute or two it fires right up like nothing happened. I replaced the dying battery last month thinking that might be the problem but it happened again a few days ago. This has happened probably ten times in a year of ownership but it still is an issue that I would like to resolve. Anyone have this problem or a possible solution? Thank you for your help.

A buddy here experiencing almost the same problem even after the new battery. He replaced the battery wire for about 4 months now and so far it starts right away until now.

Most likely the issue your having is from a Ignition switch that has gone bad and your going to have to replace it.

After years of having a heavy set of key rings hanging off the switch, the contacts in the cylinder has gone bad.... Once you have the new switch installed, done forget to do a relearn to your security system...
