Hi All,

New to the forum and was hoping you could help answer 2 questions for me. I have an 02 1500 extended cab w/4.8 liter and 2WD. This is the model that has the lower painted front bumber with holes for fog lights but no lights in there. Dont even get me started on why GM does that to their vehicles. Anyway, my paint color is white and I am in the process of blacking everything else out. Wheel wells, rear tray and I also blacked out the missing fog light hole backing until I get lights for it.

1. I have my eye on several all black rim styles and am curious what size rim and tire combo will work best on this truck un-lifted? I was wanting to go up to 18 inch from the stock 16 but not sure if that will work. I am not interested in lifting but also want a more agressive tread pattern than sdtreet tires.

2. I know that many ppl use Rhino Liner to black out areas of their trucks and was curious if anyone has ever attempted to use it on the chrome/plastic grill? I was also wanting to do it on the schrome side strips and chrome sections of my bumper.

This has all prob been covered in multiple strings so please feel free to point me in that direction. Thanks in advance for all of your help!

you can go up to 20s or even higher...if you want, just have to go with lower profile tires then stock to keep everything in line with your speedo (or reprogram the speedo settings). tire rack and discount tire (and maybe ntw) have visualization tools to show you rims on your ride.

now as for tires, are you wanting an all terrain, off road, or performance street tire? my personal preferance (other will have their im just sharing mine) is a taller wheel works good with a low profile performance street tire, a shorter wheel with more room for sidewall works better for an offroad look (esp when you dont want to lift)

for me, I'm torn between Nitto Terra Grapplers and d**k Cepec Crushers

Thanks Rebel!
I have seen those Crushers but not the Nitto's so will take a look. So for the shorter rim that is the dimension after the width correct? As in an 18x9 or 18x 6?

Thanks again for the reply.

18x9, 18x6 is USUALLY the rim diameter x the rim width
on tires ive seen it done in two ways...
xxx/yy-zz where x is tire width, y is ratio, and z is rim size
xx/yy-zz where x is the overall tire diameter, y is the tire width and z is the rim size

oh and as far as rhino liner, i know they use it on fiberglass and wood subwoofer boxes and i think ive seen it on plastic parts on some of the deer hunting trucks around here, a little pint of it is pretty cheap over at auto zone so maybe find some scraps and try it out? if you do please let us know how the application went? im planning to either use rhino in 2 colors or else the duplicolor version and some white or red paint.

and as i used to put in all posts on a camry forum when i was building one of those, my advice is sometimes proven wrong so if someone knows better please do jump in?
