'03 GMC Sierra lights/key problem

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD and I am having an issue with the key sensor and the lights. When I turn the truck off and remove the key the beeper goes off like the key is still in the ignition plus all the lights stay on. When the door is closed the beeper will stop but all the lights stay on. I've had to pull the fuses for the interior lights, brake lights and headlights so that my battery will not die. Anyone know how to fix the problem without spending hundreds for a shop to check it out?

i had the problem of the lights staying on even through the day. found out that it was the sensor on the dash that was bad. maybe your having the same problem. just a thought
