I don't know for sure about the 05's ,but I know on my 2001 the switch was bad and it would go in but wouldn't disengage until I pulled the switch out of the dash and moved the wires around. Once I put a new switch in it it's worked perfectly since and I no longer have a service 4wd message come up. Hope this helps!
