Hi Iam a newbe and this is my first post
I was under the 2500 checking spare tire pressure and noticed thr right rear brake backing plate was covered in gear oil
i guess the axle seal is leaking (115000 miles on it) has anybody ever changes this seal?? can i pull the axle out without opening up the rear end ? are there c clips on this rear holding the axles? some one told me there no c clips bu i dont know for sure
any experience in this area would be greatly appreciated tks bob

Your going to have to replace the bearing and seal also and the axles are held in by C clips. Since your doing all that work you might as well replace both sides since they both have the same amount of miles on them and i am sure the other side will also fail soon.

If you have the 10.5 or the 11.5 rear axle, you will not have C clip and the axle is bolted on the Wheel hub it self. You have to remove from the axle tube also when the axle is out to get to the bearing and seal.

Good luck and hope this helps. ;)
