I have noticed since I bought my 2007 Yukon XL new that the outside air would come in while recycle button is turned on. When the button is off, the out side air will come in stronger. This has been a problem for me as I drive in industrial area were there are lots of diesel trucks and garbage dump trucks and the smell is just unbearable.

Is this normal for GMC cars?
Is there anything I can do to block the outside air from coming in?

Thanks.

This is normal, the recycle does not fully recycle the interior air from the inside cabin of the Yukon and still does take in some fresh air in from the out side. ;)

Thank you for answering my inquiry. But still, there got to be a way to block the air from coming in from outside. Can a mechanic permanently shutoff a vent that is the source of the problem. Which and where is that vent?

The problem is worse as I do live in a desert region and every time I start up my car and turn on the AC, I get dust inside my car although I turned on the recycle button.

It sounds like you have a Canadian version of Yukon. It is a Canadian law to force fresh air into the cabin at all times; you don't have that regulation in the USA. They have to circulate fresh air in passenger vehicles all the time up here in Canada. This is just in-case anyone from Newfoundland gets in the car after eating Sunday Dinner, the other passengers will still have some fresh air :D
