i have a 2000 jimmy with a 6 cyl. i had a vacuum leak and once i fixed the problem and cleared the code with an obd 2 reader, i noticed that i had one incomplete monitor, catalyst. it has been over 1000 miles, countless starts and it still shows "1 incl" and "catalyst". I have tried some of the procedures found on the internet to get the obd system to cycle through and nothing seem to help. we have recently moved to CA and are trying to smog this vehicle. the questions are;
1. does the obd2 continually monitor the catalyst resulting in the ever present "1 incl." ?
2. how can i get the obd2 to complete the test and clear the " 1 incl " so I can get it smogged?

Need more information, what is the DTC codes. You ECM monitors constantly and when the issues has been addressed correctly. The service engine light will reset it self and after 100 start up without any relapse to the issue wil erase it self from the History.

Once again post back the DTC codes and be glad to help you get your Jimmy running 100% again soon.;)

there are no codes present

There is no issues with your Jimmy that would make you fail any emission testing if you have no DTC codes, but if you want o erase any history to reset your ECM. Turn your ignition to the run position "engine not running" and pull the fuse ECM from the fuse block for 1 min and place it back in and then start the engine.

The engine may stall, but let it and don't touch anything, just turn the ignition switch off and for 20 seconds and then restart you engine. The ECM is just relearning the sensors throughout the drive train, let idle for 3 min then go for a test drive.

This should erase any history stored in your ECM and any DTC codes will be new for you to address. :( Good luck and hope this helps.

thank you for the information. i am having trouble passing the smog in ca. because the computer is communicating to the test facility that the test are incomplete. if i reset the ECM is there any specific sequence that can be done to cycle it through the test faster than normal use?
