I did a search and got no hits on replacing this unit.

I have the Haynes manual, and the procedure seems straightforward. Any tips or workarounds on the special tools. Thanks.

The part came today and it was immediately obvious to me that the stalk just snaps in and out. It was but the work of a moment to pull out the broken one and line up and snap in the new one.

It took considerably more time to find where the end of the switch's wiring harness plugs into the main harness, but after taking out the under-dash trim pieces, I found it easily enough.

There may be a way to fish the wire through the column; but as my attempts to do so failed, I just tie-wrapped the wire inconspicuously under the column, to be mostly covered by the replaced under-dash trim.

Done.

BTW the replacement part came from Autoparts Warehouse; and with shipping and tax the total cost came to less thatn $25. Amazing!
