I've looked all over and don't see anything that applied to me.

Situation: I bought a 92 Jimmy (4.3l, CPI, 4x4, SLT). From a guy in florida. He claims that it used to run fine, but his wife got sick and the truck just sat.

I got it home and the thing will turn over and wont start. When I put gas down the throttle body, the engine fires right up.
It will only fun for as long as the gas that I poured in the throttle body burns for, then it quits.

Fuel: I dropped the tank, got rid of the old gas and replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, replaced the spider, nut and bolt kit. I am getting voltage to the wiring harness at the fuel injector on the spider. I've checked the fuel pump relay's and they are coming on for prime and on for start. There is gas to the shradder, but I don't know what the psi is.

Spark: I've replaced battery, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and checked for spark (strong spark), and compression avg is 150 psi.

Air: changed the air filter.

Timing: When I pulled the cap I turned the engine over to TDC and the timing mark on the balancer lined right up. I mark the position of the rotor. I've got the firing order (1,6,5,4,3,2) and double and triple checked the plug wires.

I am getting a serious case of the ass, because this thing should fire.

Any advice that you provide is greatly appreciated.

You really need to check the fuel pressure, if you don't have enough fuel pressure. The injectors will not work, the other thing also is to make sure you have a good ground to your fuel pump sending unit. A bad ground will cause you to have low psi also.

The ICM also my have gone bad and will need to be check and replaced if needed.

Start with these simple things and keep us posted. ;)

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to check those items and I'll let you know.

Part of being a man is identifying when you're a dumb ass. Well boy's, I'm a dumb ass, not confirmed yet.

This is what happened. I bought my fuel pump on Rock Auto. The description didn't say whether or not it was for a CPI or TBI/MFI. So I just checked the fuel pump part number that I ordered and whola it is for a TBI which only puts out 17psi of the 60+ that I need.

So I have ordered what I think is the right pump, confirmed by autozone as having 60+ psi.

Since I ordered a new sending unit due to the fact that the fuel gauge is not registering correctly. When it comes in, I am going to go ahead and change them out together.

More to follow on the wrong fuel pump drama.

Just remember to replace your Wire harness also from the sending unit to the frame.Common for the harness to go bad when its been moved around to much.

Good luck and keep us posted.:D

Confirmed. I'm a dumb ass. I put the right fuel pump in, turned the key and let it prime. I turned the key and it fired up without any hesitation. After tweaking the timing, she is purring like a kitten. To all of you reading this, make sure you have the right fuel pump for your application!!!!

Thanks for all of the advice!!!!
