1993 GMC Sonoma

vapor lock is when the fuel turns into vapor before it gets to the injectors. to change state from liquid to vapor it would have to be under high pressure. its more common in a carburated car. if its craking over adn not starting then your fuel pump might not eb working or if its just ticking or its doing nothing is could eb the starter or even just the battery

We finally got it home. We poured gas into each barrel of the carborator waited about five minutes and it started and we finally got it home. I'm 7 miles from home to work. It ran fine once I got it started.

It's been running really good, started right up then, after work, it wouldn't start.

I can hear the fuel pump kick on so I know it's not that. New battery and just about 3 weeks ago put a new starter in it - it's been running great, up until today.

Mine is a TBI.

Do you know where I can find a diagram of the fuel line for the 1993 GMC Sonoma? I'm thinking there is a vapor lock and want to check to be sure my lines are all insulated.

Have you ever known of the injectors to not squirt fuel when starting? Once it starts, it runs great. Sometimes when it's really hot or has been sitting in the sun, it doesn't want to start.

I feel it's a vapor lock issue but, again don't know where to start.

Thnk you..tony

Vapor lock usually happened with carburetor equipped vehicles, 2 to 4 pounds of pressure in fuel line.
Fuel injected vehicles have much more pressure in the fuel lines and are not prone to the vapor lock syndrome.
Intermittent fuel pump or fuel pump relay or other fuel delivery components are more likely to cause intermittent problems with fuel delivery.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter and clean your TBI with throttle body cleaner. Don't use carb cleaner, the carb is more corrosive then the throttle body cleaner and will kill the gaskets used in the TBI systems.

Good luck and keep us posted. :D
