I want to purchase a code reader for my SUV. I understand the 95's were produced during a transition period. Fine. But for a DIY guy, what is required for reading codes on this vehicle? I have a 16 pin connector under the dash and on the fan shroud it reads OBD1 compliant. The connector appears to have contacts in slots 2,4,5,9,13 and 16. Can I jumper two to get the codes? Which two? Thanks.

How to read trouble codes on a 1995 1.5 OBD, This is something that might be helpful to everyone. It is possible to read trouble codes using a paper clip on vehicles with "obd1.5"

All you have to do is bridge pins 3 & 4 (instead of 1 & 2) on the 16 pin obdII port underneath the dash, and the "Service Engine Soon" light flashes the code. This should work unless you do have a OBDII and your going to need a scanner.

Thanks...but there is no contact in the third hole.
I'd like to be able to use the connector as was intended (?) by Detroit's finest engineers.
