1996 GMC 3500 dual fuel tanks

Hello all, hoping someone can answer a question before I dive into this.
My son has a 1996 GMC 3500 dump truck with dual fuel tanks. Both tanks are rusted out and leaking. While looking for new tanks I noticed a single 34 gallon tank was used on these trucks in front of the rear axle. My question is, can I remove the dual tanks and replace the front tank (22 gal) with the 34 gallon, and eliminate the rear tank completely, making it easier to install a trailer hitch on the truck.

you can do anything you want to do. The question is do you have the know how to do it?

Don't think it would be hard to do
You will need
New tank , straps and bolts, pos fuel pump asy (if there diffent)
I would go for it if it was me
