1997 1500 won't turn off.

So here's a problem I have never encountered before.

My truck won't turn off because I can't turn the key into the off position. I can't move it to any other position aside from the "On" position or the "Start" position.

Also, some of my accessories stopped working. The radio, windows and wipers don't work, but the locks, signals, tach and speedo do work. As well, the e-brake, check engine and check gauges lights are on (as if I was going to start my car).

Any ideas?

My 99 does that sometimes I just have to make sure that the gear shifter is in the park position fully and then it will give me the key back

Could also be the inter-lock solnoid not working. The inter-lock is the system that keeps you from shifting into gear untill you step on the brake pedal
