I have a 1997 Sonoma and I am trying to check the fluid level. I have done this in other vehicles in the past and I have the Haynes book.

It shows that there should be a filter plug on the passenger side front of the Diff.
I know that I am not going lind, but I don't see the plug to remove. All I see on the this side is a hose coming out up into the frame, but know plug.

Anyone run into this before, how do I check fluid level and change it. I have a regula bed 2 wheel drive with a 2.2 engine automatic.

Thanks,

Rear diff

My 95 Jimmy has the same set up. I unbolted the bolts to the diff and let the oil trickleout by not removing all the bolts so it opened up a crack. There is no way to tell how much oil is in there that I know of unless you buy a different cover with a plug in it, I wish I had done it with mine. I used a squirt bottle to push the oil back in through the breather, it took a while, measuring it for the level but again I don't know if it is low, high or correct. Maybe some one else has a better way who will tell us. Thanks for addressing this.

After doing some more looking, I finely found the plug on the passenger side on the side between the tire. I looked all over the place and could not see it. Someone told me about it.

Glad to hear you found it..should be a 3/8 inverted hex shouldn't it...
