I was interested in a particular truck i found. its a 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4 with 120,000 miles on it. It seems to be in pretty good condition(its a 99 so its not perfect) what should i be spending on this truck and is there anything in particular I should be looking for before purchasing? I heard GMC's were great but i have never owned one so i have no idea what to look for. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks!!!:D

Inspect your fuel, brake and transmission line for corrosion. The other area to inspect is the intake for any coolant leak, the Vortec are known to have intake gaskets to fail which causes the internal engine bearing to fail.

Other then that, good luck and keep your eyes open. :D

How would i know if that bearing is bad already?
thank you for your reply.

Low oil pressure when the engine is at it's operating temperature and lower end knock at idle. You should have at least 25 psi at idle in gear. 30-40 is good and at 1,500 rpm should be 50-60 psi.

Good luck and make sure the oil is clean when checking, oil oil is thicker which will show a higher oil pressure at the oil pressure sending unit. ;)
