hey all,i have a wire that has came undone unless its always been that way and havent noticed.its a skinny hose that comes from the bottom of the air filter box.i believe it has came loose from something because its getting pretty bad gas mileage.any ideas?thanks.oh i also had a tie or tire rod, whatever you call it,come loose and a mechanic put it back together for $400+i didnt mention to ask if he checked the other side,is that something a mechanice would do and how can i check it?.i got it religned but it seems the sterring is kinda ruff like it would be the power stirring or something.it has fluid and i had put a new hose on so its not that.i dont know if its just me or not being im scared no while driving it since the tire rod came loose and the alternator burned up at same time.sorry for all the questions.

For what it's worth -

Open the hood and see if there is a sticker with a diagram on it.
It should be right in front of you .

Note -On a V6 CMFI engine the diagram I'm looking at shows a hose going
from the air cleaner to a PVC ( air in ) valve on the driver's side vale cover.
Also -you can search the net for diagrams of your vehicle

Gas mileage - that could anything from needing a tune-up , parts or just needing to run seafoam thru it.

400 dollars to put a tie rod in ? ? ? I hope that included a WHOLE bunch of new parts.

You can get under the vehicle and shake / rock the linkage to see if there something
worn out or better yet go to DIFFERENT garage , tell them what it feels like and ask them how much to look at it and get an estimate on what it would cost to get fixed.
